Vermont Catamounts Care Green Up Day May 3, 2008, Burlington VT
Over 200 service-minded students and local alumni braved the weather on Saturday, May 3rd to take part in Vermont's annual Green Up Day activities. Participants picked up roadside trash and debris throughout the city of Burlington.

Career Networking Event March 26, 2008, Burlington VT
Resume advice and interview tactics were hot topics as current UVM students had the unique opportunity to network with local alumni about life after college. The students were also privy to a panel of experts including Maree Gaetani '84 from Gardener's Supply, Hal Colston of the Good News Garage, Issa Sawabini '99 of FUSE sports marketing and Jan Blittersdorf '84 of NRG Systems who spoke about their career paths and the journey that led them to where they are today. This annual event, hosted by the Vermont Regional Board, was once again a smashing success and a great chance for students and alumni to connect.

Winter Carnival Reception February 2, 2008 Stowe VT
Supporters and families of the UVM ski team gathered at the Stoweflake Resort to celebrate the team's 2nd place win on the mountain. A perennial favorite, this reception is a wonderful way to support the ski team on their home turf and to connect with local ski enthusiasts. Special thanks to the Vermont Regional Board for hosting this festive gathering!

Vermont Career Networking Event March 1, 2006 Burlington, VT
Billings Student Center buzzed with the conversations of UVM alumni and students making connections and planning for the future. The evening started with an excellent panel of Christine Colangeli '97, Mud City Adventures, Phil Daniels '81, TD Banknorth VT, and Christine Werneke '95, State of Vermont Chief Marketing Officer. The networking portion of the evening followed with more than 50 alumni networkers available to provide advice to the record number of students who attended. The evening was judged a huge success by both students who gained great advice and alums who enjoyed providing it!

Vermont Expos Baseball Game and BBQ Party July 29, 2005, Burlngton, VT
A beautiful summer evening set the stage for an enjoyable night cheering on the Vermont Expos who who mounted a late-game rally before losing narrowly to the Lowell Spinners. UVMers of all ages watched as they enjoyed a barbecue in their reserved section. VT Wine and Artisan Cheese Tasting June 2, 2005 Burlington, VT
Who knew that learning about local products could be so much fun? Over 100 UVMers sipped wine and tasted cheese at the wine and artisan cheese tasting held in Billings Student Center on the evening of June 2nd. Our thanks to local artisans, many of them UVM alums, who donated cheese and bread and were on hand to talk about their products:

The Vermont Institute for Artisan Cheese at the University of Vermont is the country's first comprehensive center devoted to artisan cheese. Stowe Winter Carnival February 5, 2005 Stowe, VT
Fans of the UVM Ski Team saw great competition on the slopes of Stowe Mountain and the hillside trails of Trapp Family Lodge during UVM's annual Winter Carnival. Over 150 alumni and friends of the ski team gathered for a reception to celebrate the team members' and their coaches' second place effort at the Stoweflake, owned by Baraw family, who are UVM alums. In addition to the race events, the Trapp Family Lodge generously offered alumni discounted tickets for Nordic skiing and raffled off a lunch at the Austrian Tea Room. Join us next year for more fun on the slopes!

Men's Hockey vs. Dartmouth at Home Gutterson Fieldhouse Saturday, January 15, 2005
Nearly 400 alumni and their friends bought tickets from the Alumni Office for the annual Chittenden County hockey game vs. Dartmouth on Saturday, January 15, 2005. Despite a tough loss on the ice, over 100 of these ticket holders stayed for an exclusive reception in the Bostwick Room after the game. Coach Sneddon, the players and Rally were on hand to to provides autographs, including on the new Rally coloring sheets provided by the UVM Development and Alumni Relations Office.

Special Screening of "Alexander" with producer Jon Kilik '78 November 22, 2004 Williston, VT
UVM alumni, parents and friends gathered for a special screening of "Alexander" before the movie was released nationwide. A reception with producer Jon Kilik, UVM class of '78, preceded the screening at Nicco's Cucina Restaurant. Kilik discussed his extraordinary experiences producing this historical saga which as directed by Oliver Stone and featured stars such as Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer and Anthony Hopkins. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the UVM General Scholarship Fund.
Thanks to Merrill Jarvis for making the Majestic 10 Theater available, and to Warner Brothers for allowing us to show the movie before the nationwide release. Special thanks to the Vermont Regional Board for planning this wonderful evening.

Antigone October 2, 2004 Burlington, VT
UVM alums, parents and friends gathered for a UVM Theatre presentation of "Antigone" at the Royal Tyler Theatre. The UVM Theatre opened its 30th anniversary season with Jean Anouilh's 20th century interpretation of Sophocles' classic Greek tragedy. A private reception preceded the performance and included special guest Jeff Modereger, Department of Theatre Chair, and Associate Professor, & Scene Designer. Vermont Expos Baseball Game and BBQ Party August 19, 2004 Burlington, VT UVM Night at the VT Expos called for rain
The doubleheader between the Tri-City ValleyCats and Vermont Expos was postponed due to wet grounds from a torrential downpour at Centennial Field. After the rain stopped, the Expos grounds crew worked on the field for a few hours before the it was deemed unplayable and the game was called shortly after 7:00 p.m.
Despite the cancelled game, nearly 300 UVMers enjoyed the barbecue in our reserved section. Special thanks to TJ '87 and Pam Pelino, owners of the Learning Express, for providing face painting and gift certificates for a raffle. UVMers were able to use their game tickets for VT Expos game later in the season.

Spring into Summer With UVM! June 23, 2004 Burlington, VT
Over 50 people met at The Waiting Room for the Spring Into Summer with UVM after work wind-down with a Mexican twist. The gathering included time to reconnect with friends as well as complimentary spicy munchies and a tequila tasting. Thanks to Anna Rosenblum G'00, owner of The Waiting Room, for donating 10% of sales to the UVM General Scholarship Fund. Vermont Business Luncheon with IDX founder Rich Tarrant June 16, 2004 Burlington, VT
The UVM Vermont Regional Board held its inaugural VT Business Networking Luncheon featuring Richard Tarrant, co-founder and Chairman of IDX Systems. Mr. Tarrant, parent of past UVM alums and a benefactor of the University, outlined IDX's success story in providing information technology solutions to healthcare providers and discussed the exciting possibilities that future international expansion holds. This was also a wonderful opportunity to network with other UVMers in the Burlington area and was the largest event of its kind to date.

UVM Vermont Networking Event Tuesday, March 30, 2004 Burlington, VT
The Great Hall of Billings was alive with sparkling conversations at the first UVM Vermont Networking Event on Tuesday, March 30, 2004. A group of about 100 students and alumni attended this inaugural event co-sponsored by the Vermont Regional Board of the Alumni Association and UVM Career Services. The event was designed to link graduating seniors and recent alumni with successful UVM alumni from various career areas to obtain career advice, information and connections.
The evening began with an outstanding panel that included: Barry Stone '56, President, Barry Stone Agency (moderator) and panelists: LuAnn Dillon Pierce '76, Management Consultant, Bell and Company; Chris McCabe '91 Assistant VP for Marketing & Business Development, University of Vermont; Gretchen Morse, '75 Executive Director, United Way of Chittenden County; Curtis Picard '91 VP International Trade, Vermont Chamber of Commerce; Irene Steiner '89 VP Marketing, Vermont Teddy Bear; Steve Waltien '70 Resident Director, VP, Merrill Lynch . Following the panel, attendees had the opportunity for one-on-one networking conversations with more than 30 alumni career networkers.
Mary Beth Barritt, Assistant Director of Career Services, introduced students and alumni to the UVM Career Connection, our own UVM alumni career network, and Joe Speidel G '01, Development and Alumni Relations, invited students to participate in a broad range of alumni volunteer and social opportunities.

UVM Theatre's "Art of Dining" March 7, 2004 Burlington, VT
Over 40 alums and friends gathered to watch a culinary masterpiece at the UVM Royal Tyler Theater. The Art of Dining by Tina Howe was a hilarious comedy based on America's obsession with food and transformed the stage with all of the sights, sounds and smells of food. Attendees sat in a section provided exclusively to UVM alums. Thanks to Amanda Ahmadi '92 and the VT Events Committee for planning this delicious outing.

Stowe Winter Carnival Celebration February 7, 2004 Stowe, VT
A spirited group of alumni, parents and friends gathered at a special reception at the Stoweflake Resort to welcome the UVM Ski teams after their annual Winter Carnival contest. Although the team narrowly lost the competition, the nearly 160 UVMers present welcomed them warmly and enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones. Coaches Bill Reichelt (alpine) and Alan Serrano (nordic) and skiers talked about how the carnival and their season so far. Thanks to the the Baraw family for helping to underwrite this event and to the UVM Vermont Regional Board for planning it.

UVM vs. Dartmouth, Men's Hockey January 10, 2004 Burlington, VT
Vermont's Brady Leisenring scored the game-winner late in the third period and Jeff Corey scored twice to lift the Catamounts to a dramatic 4-2 victory over nationally ranked Dartmouth in men's hockey action at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Alumni, parents and friends donned their green and gold to cheer on the Cats and gathered for a post-game reception with Coach Sneddon.

Prof. Frank Bryan Speaker Series November 14, 2003 Burlington, VT
A recent Speaker Series event provided the opportunity for more than 350 guests to hear beloved UVM political science professor Frank Bryan's insights into former Vermont Governor Howard Dean's presidential bid and his own research on town meetings in New England. Leavening his observations with homespun humor and stories, Professor Bryan discussed the challenges that would lie ahead for Governor Dean or whoever is elected as our next president. Prior to the presentation, attendees gathered for a reception in the Fleming Museum's Marble Court and and the opportunity to purchase signed copies of Bryan's hot-off-the-presses book, Real Democracy: The New England Town Meeting and How It Works.
