Alumni Distinguished Service Award - 2003 Recipients

Lee Bickford '41 is a committed University of Vermont volunteer. An active member of the College of Arts and Sciences board of advisors, she has also served on numerous alumni and Reunion committees and assisted in UVM admissions efforts in New Jersey. Lee has been a strong leader in UVM's fundraising efforts as well, demonstrating a high level of commitment to the University's campaign.

Ron Hertel '65 has played an active role in assuring a strong future for UVM, serving as co-chair of both the UVM Fund Executive Committee and his class's Reunion Gift Committee and representing UVM's fundraising leadership on the Alumni Council. Ron has also been an active member of the Boston Regional Board and an admissions advocate in the Boston area.

Charlie Zabriskie '53, a passionate advocate for the University, is chair of the Ira Allen Society, chair emeritus of the UVM ROTC Alumni Association, and a member of UVM's National Campaign Steering Committee. He is a recipient of the Department of Athletics' Lifetime Achievement Award and the Army's Outstanding Civilian Service Medal for his support of the UVM Army ROTC Green Mountain Battalion.
