Alumni Distinguished Service Award - 2004 Recipients
Leonard Miller '51, has been an dedicated volunteer for UVM in many capacities, including an active fundraising volunteer for the University, as a member of the board of advisors for Holocaust Studies, as host for UVM receptions in his Florida home, and as a representative of UVM at an inauguration at Miami University. A generous donor to UVM, he created the Miller Symposium in Holocaust Studies, and he has established the Miller Endowment for the Center for Holocaust Studies at UVM. He was elected class president in 2001, and he never misses a reunion. He also attends UVM events in Florida, Vermont, and New York City.
James Rosenberg '64, M.D., has served as a leader of UVM's fundraising efforts, especially during the past four years as chair of the Ira Allen Committee. As an enthusiastic and energetic supporter of UVM, he has not only made more fundraising calls to alumni than any other committee member, he also has reengaged others, including several non-donors, who have since given generously to UVM. He personally makes sure that his classmates stay connected to UVM through his personal contact, and he has been especially committed to the Hillel mission on campus, and he is a devoted member of his fraternity. Jim encourages prospective students to apply to UVM and, when admitted, to enroll. For his 40th reunion this year as well as for past reunions, he has also been a fundraising leader in his class.
