George V. Kidder Outstanding Faculty Award
Since 1974, awarded to one full-time faculty member, who has served in that capacity at the University for five (5) years or more, to honor excellence in teaching as demonstrated by effectiveness in motivating students in ways that have a lasting influence on their lives, commitment to student advising, and the ability to provoke student interest and enthusiasm and constructively influence campus life beyond the classroom.

2004 George V. Kidder Outstanding Faculty Award
Professor Frank Bryan, has been at the University of Vermont since 1976. Currently a professor of political science, he specializes in American politics and public administration. He has a strong commitment to the values of effective and responsive local government, and over the years, he has helped instill this commitment in his students. He also is dedicated to the state of Vermont, and his course on Vermont Rural Politics in which he encourages students to attend Vermont town meetings is legendary. His courses effectively empower students to have confidence in their own experiences and his teaching has spurred many to becoming involved in their own communities.
