Young Alumni

Perhaps the best way for those who have graduated in the last decade to get involved with the UVM community is to volunteer for the Young Alumni Committee (YAC).

The YAC comprises UVM alums who graduated within the last ten years.  The committee exists to help ensure quality and excellence at the University of Vermont by creating a consistent sense of responsibility for life-long giving to UVM.  The YAC demonstrates the important role young alumni play in shaping UVM's future.  As members of the Alumni Association over the course of their lives, young alumni will serve on a variety of UVM committees and boards.  Their volunteer support, efforts, and accomplishments will directly impact and enhance UVM programs created for students, faculty, and alumni.  

The Young Alumni Committee emphasizes the idea that every gift, no matter the size, is of great significance.  The YAC strives to increase donor numbers each year from the young alumni community, in order to keep them connected to the institution throughout their lives. 

As a member of the YAC, your job would be to stay connected to UVM and encourage your peers to do the same. Specific responsibilities of individuals on this committee include:

  • Contacting 8-10 classmates in the fall and ask for a gift to the University - some spring calls may be assigned as needed.
  • Helping identify other young alumni to contact for financial gifts, or be willing to contact alumni selected by the UVM Fund office.
  • Participating in the Young Alumni spring thank-you note campaign as a way to further steward donors to the University.
  • Setting a good example and doing your part by making your own gift to UVM.
  • Keeping in touch! Call or email to let us know how you are doing and what UVM can do for you.

Are you interested in becoming a more involved UVM alum?  Did you graduate between 1998 and 2007?  If so, we would love to have you as a part of the Young Alumni Committee!
