Scholarship - The Pinnacle Fund

What makes a college or university outstanding? Enrolling and educating outstanding students. The University of Vermont is doing an excellent job of this, but we are determined to do even better. The University's effort to attract and retain the very best students in Vermont and throughout the nation requires an increase in the amount of financial aid we can offer qualified applicants. Currently, 84 percent of students attending private colleges receive financial aid, compared to only 60 percent of UVM undergraduates. Narrowing this gap will make the University of Vermont more competitive across the entire spectrum of American higher education and will help us augment the size of UVM's student body while sustaining and building its quality.

THE PINNACLE FUND FOR STUDENT EXCELLENCE
Scholarships and fellowships that the University can award immediately, where the needs are greatest, are vital to UVM's ability to attract an academically strong and diverse student body. The Pinnacle Fund for Student Excellence was established to accept contributions of any amount from donors who want to help the University to achieve its overall goal for scholarships and fellowships and have an immediate impact on keeping a UVM education affordable and accessible.

    ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

Endowed scholarships also play an important part of the University's scholarship mix.  They offer an opportunity for donors to encourage and recognize excellence in whatever academic area they choose to support, and have a lasting impact on the University and its students. Endowments are invested in perpetuity, with a portion of their earnings allocated to fund scholarships annually. A donor may establish a named undergraduate scholarship with a minimum gift of $100,000, or a named graduate fellowship with a minimum gift of $300,000.
