Suzanne Clark Richardson
Class of 1952
Alumna Marks 50th Reunion with Endowment and a Return to UVM
When Suzanne Clark Richardson ’52 comes back to UVM celebrate her 50th class Reunion this spring, she will also be telling her classmates what it is like to be a student in 2002—through first-hand experience.
Currently enrolled in UVM’s master’s degree program in historic preservation, Suzanne is following her passion for archaeology. During her years of teaching, Suzanne became intrigued with grist mills, engaging her students in local archaeology to unearth the history of the grist mill in their town, convinced this was a curriculum that could work anywhere. She also serves as a board member of the American Precision Museum, where her interest in using historical artifacts as a basis for learning continues.
Her 50th Reunion will also be marked by a very generous gift. Suzanne has pledged $50,000 for the College of Education and Social Services. The Suzanne Richardson Clark Fund is earmarked for faculty development and research, an area that is critical to developing research-based programs that prepare educators for the next 50 years. This contribution represents one of the largest gifts the college has received from an individual donor to support these efforts.
Suzanne’s commitment and dedication to education serves as just one example of the generous gifts that can profoundly touch the lives of many. As we continue to educate the leaders of tomorrow, it is imperative that the College of Education and Social Services remain steadfast in providing students with the best possible resources available. Your support is an investment in the future.
