Hello, UVM class of 1991! I received a few more posts from UVMers, but I encourage you to send me your tidbits and updates. So what’s up with you now? I have heard from the following alumni but I know there are more of you out there so please email/write me. Karen Kefauver announced that she is engaged to Norman Field, and they are planning to wed in May 2008 in Santa Cruz, California. Karen has lived there since 1993, and she continues to work as a freelance journalist (www.karenkefauver.com). Recently, Karen and Norman visited Songbae Lee in San Francisco. Songbae changed his name from David prior to his two-year Peace Corps assignment in the Ukraine. After living in New York City, he has been on the West Coast for a year, working at Bank of America Securities. On her next trip to the Bay Area, Karen hopes to visit with Willow Older ’91; her husband, Leroy; and their two kids, Max and Ben, who live in Oakland. Griffin Bell wrote that he is now a lawyer in Decatur, Georgia. He and his wife, Jessica, celebrated the birth of their second child, Margaret Holland, in August 2006. Griffin IV is now three years old. Rob Kilbourn sent me an email to say that he and his wife, Janet, celebrated their fifth anniversary. He is currently a psychology professor in Minnesota and is the proud dad to a wonderful two-year-old, Payton. I also recently heard from Amy Brangaccio Wolf ’92 who is working and living with her family in Reading, Pennsylvania. She is director of customer service/inside sales for Bills Khakis, and she is the proud mother of son Harrison. Kirk Broadbooks also sent an email telling me about a cool networking site www.ning.com. His high school used it as a tool for organizing their 20th year reunion, and he recommended that our class use it as a way of networking. Anyone up for the challenge? I also received some great holiday cards from UVMers Julie and Bryce Hartmann, Susan McIntyre Applegate, Heather and Jay ’92 Wager, Julie Burstin Lichtenstein, Terry Farwell Worthington, Meme and Steve ’92 Sasse, and Carin Cosgrove Nardone. I also received holiday cards from Heather Crapple ’92 Fargis and Emily Bernstein ’92 Baum. Many of you have adorable kids who are growing so fast. How about you? What are you up to?  Send me an email or mail me a note to the address below. I look forward to hearing from you.

Attention ladies! Bill Wright is officially off the market. He proposed to his lovely girlfriend, Prudence, at their favorite spot on Montauk Beach. The happy couple is planning to marry this fall in Yankee Stadium, but Bill maintains that “Roger Clemens will not be invited.” Carrie McCuin Selby wrote to say Happy New Year to her fellow classmates and to share that her husband, Dean, and she were participating in a biathlon in January. Dean and Carrie built their home in Cambridge five years ago. They have two sons, Nate and Matt, and a black lab, Willie. Since graduating from UVM, Carrie has worked in the Social Security Administration Office of Hearings and Appeals, and the Department of Justice Immigration and Naturalization Service. She currently works in the Department of Homeland Security Citizenship and Immigration Services as a supervisory adjudications officer. Her husband, Dean, graduated from Clarkson University and is an engineer with Energizer Battery, Inc. They spend a great deal of time enjoying their children: coaching soccer, basketball, and baseball; skiing at Smugglers’ Notch; and camping and boating in the summer. Carrie wrote that she received Christmas cards from Betsy Brothers Cieplicki, Paula Machia Audibert, and Jen Pasha ’96 Burdick and she noted they all have adorable children. Kristen Adams Walsh and her husband, John, welcomed their first child, a daughter, Alyssa Mae, on November 11, 2007. They live in Andover, Massachusetts, where they own JW Real Estate, LLC (jw-realestate.com). Edward Boettcher married Rebekah Jade Altman on a beautiful fall day at an avocado ranch in the mountains near their home in Santa Barbara, California. UVMers attending the wedding included Zachary Lipman ’94; Adam Kurth; and Melissa Jordan ’99 Manley and her husband Michael ’93. Randi Tinkelman got engaged to Ryan Downey last December. The happy couple lives in Providence, Rhode Island, and they are planning a fall 2008 wedding. Last December, Marie Schowalter became engaged to Jonathon Schnell. He popped the question in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where the two were enjoying some fresh powder over the Christmas holiday. Ted Cotsen sent this great update: “I often think about Vermont and Burlington, but it really doesn’t feel that far away here in Northern California. It’s very green, liberal, full of Victorian houses, and only a handful of billboards dot the roads. Like Burlington, we have the mountains to the east and the sun sets over the water to the west. Also it's just full of Vermont people and Vermont pride. I see classmates Will Tidman, Curtis Bisaillon, Dan Strout, Josh Peterson, Greg Hall and Mandy Sheppard here and there around the city. There are Vermonters throughout my neighborhood like Ryan Wiederkehr ’97, Nick Poncet ’94, Tiff Shannis ’94, Jenny Brennan ’99, Erin Wehner ’97, Jason Hancock ’97, Red ’96, Schwartz ’97, Alicia Williams ’97, John Reitano ’97, Pam Fishman ’96. Just going up to Lake Tahoe feels like UVM Discount Day at Mad River Glen. This past summer, I was lucky enough to make it back East for Scott Bevill and Lauren Dilzell’s wedding. Meghan Perham ’96, James Donahue ’94, Tom Oatman ’89, Karen Towle Moses, Justin Moses, Laney Bevill ’93, Alex West, Geoff Perham ’94, Nate Beams ’96, Whit Porter ’96, Stephen Gerencser ’99, Jess Marsette Chase ’96, PJ Pfeiffenberger ’97, Mike Chase, Annie DeNatale, Henrik Ross ’98, Bill Leonard ’97, and Pem Huddleston ’96.”

Hello, classmates. I have several great updates this spring. I encourage the rest of you to drop me a line with news of what you’ve been up to before I have to write our column for the summer issue. I heard from Jonathan Stahl, who married Amanda Tyson, a graduate of Brown University, on September 30, 2007, in Stehekin, Washington. Family and friends, including Seth Moskos ’00, traveled via plane, car, boat, and bus for the weekend-long celebration in the North Cascades. (Stehekin is only accessible via trail, boat, or float plane). Beginning in April, Jonathan and Amanda hiked 1,800 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mexican border through California, Oregon, and Washington. They planned their wedding from the trail and then walked to it. Their website, www.trails2wellness.org, promotes the benefits of outdoor recreation for personal wellness, interpersonal relationships, and the relationship between people and nature. Trail journals from their hike are posted on their blog, the “Virtual Campfire.” Photos are posted, too. The second update comes from Marc Milowsky ’71, who sent news of his daughter’s wedding.
