A weekend of celebrating 50 wonderful years and looking ahead to the next 50.

 

Schedule of Events

All Weekend Long

11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Royall Tyler Open House

All spaces in the Theatre building, including the scene shop and costume shop, will be open for guests to visit. Current Theatre faculty, staff and students will be there to greet returning alumni.

UVM Bookstore

Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday 11:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Stop by the UVM Bookstore to purchase your latest UVM-branded gear.

Parking Information

On Friday, there will be designated spots reserved for event guests at the Waterman Building Lot (43 S Prospect St, Burlington, VT 05401). Spots will be marked with a cone and "reserved" sign.

On Saturday, all parking on campus is free.

Friday, April 12

10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m | Improv Workshop with Professor Zeina Salame

Location: Royall Tyler Theatre

Join us for a fun and relaxed hour of play! Through improvisation games and collaborative creative exercises, we'll practice listening, teamwork, character creation, solo and group storytelling, and more. No experience necessary. Just bring your sense of humor and your "yes and..." spirit. Games and exercises are adaptable for all bodies, so please come as you are!

11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m | Musical Theatre Dance Workshop with Professor Julie Peoples-Clark

Location: Royall Tyler Theatre

You're invited to an exciting jazz-based dance class filled with Broadway style and music. We will warm-up with jazz isolations, move across the floor with leaps and turns, and end with a Broadway musical combination. Please wear comfortable clothes to move in and sneakers or soft soled jazz shoes. Sequins welcome!

2:00 to 5:00 p.m | Distinguished Alumni Panel and Reception

Location: Royall Tyler Theatre

2:00 to 4:00 p.m. | Distinguished Alumni Panel on Main Stage

4:00 to 5:00 p.m.| Reception in Theatre Lobby

Join our distinguished guests for a career panel discussion led by UVM Theatre and Dance Department Head, Rob Shimko. Learn more about successful career paths for Theatre graduates and develop alumni network connections. All alumni and current students are invited.

5:30 to 9:30 p.m | Open Rehearsal 50 Years of Royall Tyler Theatre: A Musical Revue

Location: Royall Tyler Theatre

Drop in on an open rehearsal of selected songs from the history of musical theatre in the UVM Theatre Program. Members from the original casts will rehearse alongside current students for a performance on Saturday evening. Pizza and soda will be provided to those attending the rehearsal.

All alumni, staff and students are invited to join us for a photo to document the 50th anniversary of Royall Tyler Theatre

4:00 to 6:30 p.m | Performance: 50 Years of Royall Tyler Theatre: A Musical Revue

Location: Royall Tyler Theatre

A celebratory evening honoring 50 years of UVM Theatre productions and looking ahead to its bright future. Alumni and students welcome to attend. The evening’s program will include a presentation from Theatre and Dance Department Head, Rob Shimko, honoring the history of the theatre, those who have made the program special, and where we are going in the next 50 years.

4:00 to 5:15 p.m. | Performance on Main Stage

5:15 to 6:30 p.m. | Celebration in Craftsbury Room

Join us for a magical, one-time-only performance featuring selected songs sung by past and current UVM Theatre Program students and alumni.
